The Gripper (Original Gription) Sub-Division of the Mechanical Division is responsible for creating a device to pickup/manipulate the totes and recycling cans on the playing field. The Sub-Division is split into small sub-groups to complete tasks which will help to reach the final goal of having a working gripper. Several ideas were developed, with the current one being a design that works on a rack and pinion mechanism to create adjustable (in width) arms to pick up totes and cans in almost any orientation. Collaboration with the other mechanical sub-divisions ensures the robot functions work together properly.
